It was a miserable day yesterday but we endured. The hard-fought match ended in a 0-1 loss to the Bad Ass Snow Leopards. Some highlights included solid goalkeeping in both halves - our old friend/new fish Andrés took home Mr. Pink. The other team was overheard complaining about our "defensive pestering" - something to be proud of no doubt.
Welcome again to all the new fish. As you saw, we currently have plenty of male subs and very few females. Rest assured that I'll be working on both sides of the problem. I am still looking for 1 or 2 new female fish and I think we'll go back to using a shift system to facilitate the substitutions next match.
Next Match:

ROOSEVELT HS (13th and Upshur NW)

Pink Prowess
Despite the heat, last Sunday was a delight. After some bumps earlier this season, we really pulled it together and played some nice football against the "Margin of Terror" side with a few familiar faces (2/3 of the Gregs we know and Clark from the inaugural Ceviche season). We ended up with a 4-1 victory and a lot of depleted electrolytes.
I have to give another mention to Jen, Beca and Helen who held strong for 70 minutes without any subs. Ferocious Female Footballers.

Beautiful Day, Tough Loss
We weren't overpowered - we just couldn't find the back of the net. The post-game libations helped salvage the day at least. Happy belated b-day to Kara!

First Victory Dedicated to Moms Everywhere
Many of our normal fish were off swimming with their mothers but "friends and family of fish" came to the rescue. The opponents lacked the necessary gender balance and were forced to forfeit. With the victory firmly in hand, we played them anyway and game them a solid trouncing.
Special recognition to Beca for her first goal as a fish. Welcome aboard.

Hello Summer
I confess to being ill-prepared for the heat coming off the Cardozo turf. That being said, my hat goes off to all the fish who survived the early onset of summer and that feeling of trying to run through knee-high molasses. Despite the tough loss, we raw fish are a resilient breed and will surely bounce back in the next match.
Special kudos to Bernardo for his hard work and improvisation "bajo los palos".

Spring Season Kicks Off
Michael's beautiful goal off a freekick granted us reprieve from the non-stop offensive attack and various head and facial injuries.
Shake it off, fish. There's no way to go but up.
¡Arriba Ceviche!
